PTO stands for Parent-Teacher Organization.

A PTO is a volunteer group of parents and teachers that works together to support the school community. Our goal is to improve the educational experience for students by:

  • Organizing school events and fundraisers (like book fairs, spirit nights, festivals etc.)

  • Supporting teachers and staff with supplies or classroom needs

  • Enhancing communication between parents and the school

  • Funding extracurricular programs, field trips, or special assemblies

Unlike a PTA (Parent-Teacher Association), which is part of a national organization, a PTO is usually independent and runs at the local school level, setting its own rules and managing its own funds.

Why should you join PTO? 

The purpose of a PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization) is to support students, teachers, and the school community by fostering cooperation between parents and educators. Here are the main goals and purposes:

1. Build Community

  • Create a stronger connection between families and school staff

  • Organize social events that bring people together (family nights, carnivals, etc.)

2. Support Teachers and Staff

  • Provide classroom supplies, equipment, or appreciation events

  • Help with volunteer efforts or assist in classrooms

3. Enhance Student Experiences

  • Fundraise for field trips, extracurricular programs, school improvements, or technology

  • Sponsor enrichment activities like assemblies, clubs, or cultural events

4. Improve Communication

  • Act as a liaison between parents and the school administration

  • Help parents stay informed and involved in school decisions

5. Encourage Parent Involvement

  • Offer opportunities for parents to volunteer and contribute their skills

  • Help create a more welcoming and inclusive school environment

In short, the PTO exists to strengthen the school community and improve the overall educational experience for students
